Above all a bakery has to have decent bread. If not, it's a restaurant. Porto's, I can't believe I'm saying it,
has the best bread, for the best price - this side of downtown! I would love to give it 5☆ but it's got the
worst parking ever. If you park on Firestone, they'll give you a $400 ticket.

Porto's is the gold standard for bakeries! Delicious, beautiful, and affordable, their pastries and cakes are among the best. In addition to the standard breads, cakes, and cookies, they also offer delicious cafe food including sandwiches, plates, and breakfast. The Cuban cuisine really shines through. This is reflected in their long lines but the lines do move quickly. They have a ton of friendly staff working the counters.

If you try to park in the upper level, parking is not an issue. Food is way out delicious and prices are cheap compared with the quality of food you are getting. Place is always crowded and the Management should do a better attempt to expedite the service. Owners are reluctant to let you pay or reserve online, as well as to pick your order up in another location. Amazing for an era with huge technology and advancement on this field. They close early (8:30 pm the latest) and this is another disadvantage. I'm sure that if they were open until 11 pm, they would still have a lot of clients. Anyway, the menu is diverse, any shake is amazingly delicious, pastries and cakes are superb and the food is out of this world. These guys have their clients with an arrogant attitude of, "Take it like is or go somewhere else". A shame for them.

My good friend told me this was his favorite place to eat in LA county. So we go there around the time of brunch on a Sunday. It's busy, and hectic. Multiple lines that zigzag back and forth. People all over! He tells me its actually not as busy as how it gets sometimes and assures me it'll go by fast. Sure enough, within 5 minutes we're at the counter placing our order and choosing some pastries and potato balls.

The price is really reasonable for how delicious everything was! We paid about $18 for two cups of iced coffee, 4 cheese rolls and 2 each of 4 different potato balls. The cheese rolls were my favorite. Flakey, crunchy, buttery and creamy. It's making my mouth water just reliving that again.

Highly recommend, don't be deterred by a long line. I will be back to try more from their menu.
